In order to protect the health and wellness of the Community this year's walk has been postponed! The plans are for the event to take place later this summer or fall. Thank you for your support!
As most families were planning family gatherings and preparing for the holiday season, our family was weathering a storm neither of us could have imagined. A loving brother, uncle, and father was preparing for his last moments with his loved ones. On October 26, 2018, Hieggins Danger was diagnosed with lung cancer. Days later it was confirmed that it had already progressed to Stage 4. Within days, he was being rushed into emergency surgery to combat permanent paralysis in his legs and had to spend weeks rehabbing in a rehabilitation center. It seemed that every week he was receiving devastating news about the decline of his health due to this monstrous disease. And yet his hopes high. He talked of getting back to work and couldn’t wait to just get home. On the evening of December 19, 2018, Hieggins was surrounded by his loved ones; His daughter read him the sweet messages in a Christmas card his kids bought for him. He was quiet and calm. In the early hours of December 20, 2018, Hieggins passes away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with his lifelong partner, sister, and son by his side. We remember Hieggins strength and optimism during the battle of his life in those 54 days. His family has committed to continuing to push his legacy and share his story. We’re raising money for continuous cancer research so that other families don’t have to go through the same quick and abrupt heartache during the holidays or at any time. All donations and sponsors and appreciated.
